Welcome to Group 8: Sarah Brewer Robinson

Sarah Brewer was the wife of William Robinson. She was the mother to ten children: Robert (Cliff), Willie Bea Perle, Kate, Flora, Emma, Dorothy Mae, Concelo, Augusta, Willard and John. At the age of thirty-six, however, she passed away during childbirth of her last child. Her husband remarried but the Robinson children remained close to the Brewers.
The Brewers were really proud of Robert Cliff Robinson, Sr. and his achievements. He was the District Manager at North Carolina Mutual, one of the most successful and prominent African American businesses at the time. He was married to Ernestine Robinson. They had five children: Robert Clifton Robinson, Jr., Marcell, Gwendolyn, Ernest Pinckney and Genevieve.
Robert C. Robinson, Jr., his son graduated from Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in May of 1942. He soon became a Tuskegee Airman. Then tragedy struck. During the famous Raid on Berlin, he was declared Missing-In-Action and awarded a Purple Heart posthumously. His remains were returned to the United States and buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Second Lt. Robert C. Robinson is an American hero.
